- Boulder Steel owns 50% of Euro Forming Services GmbH (EFS) headquartered in Bitburg, Germany, with additional production facilities in Heiligenkreuz, Austria.
- EFS processes tubular steel products largely for the automotive industry using its own technology, including hot and cold forging as well as rotary forming of tubes.
- EFS’ products include air bag cylinders, shock absorbers, truck axles, gas dampening systems, cam shafts and hydraulic aircraft cylinders. The products are used in Mercedes Benz sedans, BMW, VW, Porsche, Renault, Bentley, Audi and in the aircraft industry.
- EFS has accumulated an impressive customer base of peak German and international automotive and industrial component makers including Mercedes Benz, DAF, Ferrari, Hydac, Thyssen Krupp, Continental, Autoliv & Rotec and others.
- Certified for ISO 9001 and the German automotive quality standard VDA 6.1.
- In 2007 the business demanded expansion into a second facility in Heiligenkreuz, Austria near the Hungarian border. These facilities utilise the latest innovative robotic technology to supply products of unique design, quality and tolerances and have been commissioned in mid-2008.
- EFS has experienced a significant growth phase. Net profits were made first in 2004 when revenue reached € 8.6 million. Revenue in 2007 was € 13.4 million. In 2008/2009 EFS met the challenges of the world financial crisis and downturn in the automotive industry, experiencing a one-third fall in revenue for the six months to June 2009.
EFS management undertook restructuring activities at both its Bitburg facility and the newly commenced Heiligenkreuz plant. As a result both EFS facilities have posted significant gains in revenue during the last few quarters.
